Mala Strana
Prague Connect > Guide > Sight seeing > Mala StranaMala Strana

Mala Strana, or the Little Quarter, was founded in 1257, and is one of the oldest areas in Prague. Although this area is quiet in terms of nightlife, stroll around on the way to Hradcany in order to truly experience the historical wealth of simply being in Prague.

Sights to see, before leaving Mala Strana, are the Wallenstein Palace; the Church of St. Nicholas; and Nerudova Street, named after writer Jan Neruda, which leads up to Prague Castle. This street has a number of Baroque buildings, and its houses (which up until the 1770s were distinguished by signs) host a beautiful array of emblems and heraldic beasts.
