People usually think that Prague is very cheap. It is right, but accommodation might be exceptions, especially in you are staying in the centre. However, you can find quite good deals outside of the centre and it’s not a problem as there’s a good underground connection from almost anywhere. For young people there is a possibility to stay at a hostel, it is not very comfortable but it’s very cheap.
Where do you want to stay?
There are four main areas for accommodation in Prague: Old Town, New town, Mala Strana and Hradcany.
The old Town enlarge upon 500 metre around the old town square, one can find all types of accommodation from hostel dorms to 4 star hotels. Besides, one is in a walking distance from most touristy places. However, prices will be higher and it will be noisier.
In the new town district, around Wenceslas Square you will find the 4 star hotels, lots of pension (bed and breakfast) and a few hostels. Prices are cheaper but you will have to use public transport to get around.
Mala Strana is the large area at the base of the Castle; most hotels are situated in the Nerudova Street.
The Hradcany area has a concentration of very expensive hotels at the hill-top such as the Questenberk, Savoy, Doumus Henrici Residence and U Raka. The advantage is to be close to the castle but it’s away from the others touristy places.
If one prefers sleeping on a boat it’s possible! On the Vltava River, there are 4 botels.
